Paddlers/coaches/DB followers,

Here is your chance to make a difference.  We are currently recruiting paddlers/coaches/etc to assist in the ranking of the teams for the Alcan festival.  We are looking for up to 5 rankers to assist. Got questions...

1.  How many teams are there?  You will need to rank as many as the teams as possible in each division, Mixed, Open, Women, and Juniors.  it is not mandaotry to do all of them but the more you ranked the more accurate the rankings can be.  There are 150 teams in mixed, upto 40 in Open and Women and 33 teams in junior.
2.  Will you get paid?  No but you have the satisfaction of knowing that you assisted in making sure the teams are placed correctly.
3.   How much time does it take?  If you do every team it may take up to 4-5 hours, if you don't rank them all then it should be shorter.
4.   Will we need to meet?  No, you will receive everything via email.  We purposely keep the rankers anonymous to ensure each person selects the teams as they see them.  We do not want anyone swayed by others.
5.   How do I rank them if I don't know the teams(s)?  You will receive the following when you get the ranking package, last year's results for Alcan, Victoria, Kelowna.  This year's FCRCC, Women's, Alcan Regatta, and any other festival results we obtain.  You will also hear from us for the out of town teams if they are going to be strong or not.  We will be contacting people in each city to see what they have to say.
6.  Is it easy to do?  Most people that have done this in prior years have said it is harder than it looks but they all enjoyed that they did it.

Finally, how do can I sign up?  Send an email to [email protected], please state your name, email address, if you paddle, for how many years and also let us know how often you are on the water (if you are).  Basically tell us why you would be a good ranker.  We will notify the successful applicants as soon as possible.

Here's to another successful festival.

Never give a match up halfway through. Never say that you do not feel up to it, that your condition is bad, and throw in the towel. Fight to the very end, always looking for your chance to break through.
