Good luck to everyone on the water tomorrow at "The Gorge" Festival, aka Vancouver Island Championships.

If the finals in Nanaimo are any indication it is going to be some very tight racing in the final heats, and the beer gardens are always a great time!

Great day of racing at the Gorge today! Thank you to GO and the volunteers for a well-organized event. It was great to see those crazy pirates again! Congratulations to the Dragonauts for a hard earned victory!

I think this is how the top 8 mixed teams played out....

1. Dragonauts
2. Navy Dragon Anchors
3. Xtreme Reach
4. ssSteam Heat
5. Precision Impossible
6. Brew Crew
7. Scurvy Dawgs
8. Blu By U

Sorry, I'm not sure how the ladies division finished but Nusalon from Nanaimo took first.

Looking forward to seeing you all again next weekend!

Awesome day on the Gorge today!!  A big thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who were involved in organizing the race!  Congrats to all the teams... lots of great races!  Our team had a fantastic time!

one little correction dogpaddle, our team, BrewCrew, placed 5th overall.

to my team, YOU GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE!!

Crap! I always get one wrong somewhere....So, that would make Brew Crew fifth and PI sixth.

Does anyone have any race footage or pictures??
 Sad I wasn't able to make it over for the races, but I hear the top 2 shaped up like Naniamo....I guess we have a rivalry on our hands!! The standings look pretty good to me.....but where did "scurvy dawgs" come from.....other than out of No-where!! Good job guys!!

Scury Dawgs are a second year team.  They were ranked 67ish (32) with 8 points last year.  They only competed in the Vancouver Island Dragon Boat Championships and the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival last year.

Be aware of these Scurvy Dawgs! They steal your food and ladies! AARRGGHHH! Like to sneak into your pictures, too! Laughing It's a great time when they are at a festival. Congratulations on taking home the Spirit Award!

Young and powerful dragonboaters. It's too bad we don't see them more often....

i LOVE the scurvy dawgs!  they're great.  not only did they do extremely well last year for a 1st year team at the vic DB fest, they easily had the best costumes and team theme, and probably had the most fun.  they scared the **** out of some team next to them in the marshalling line-up with a well timed "YARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" and we drove by them on the saturday night out in front of the parliament buildings, drinking and dancing away.  (i assume it was them and not some random pirates)
