The members of Pemberton’s dominating dragon boat program are setting their sights on double digits.
Ten years ago, the Laoyam Eagles won their first junior title at the Rio Tinto Alcan (formerly Alcan) Dragon Boat Festival, kicking off a string of nine consecutive victories. Now, they’ve got their eye on earning No. 10 at the event on June 21 and 22 in Vancouver.
“This is a big year for us,” Eagles coach Hugh Fisher said on Thursday (May 8), calling that 10th title the team’s main goal for the upcoming season.
