This course is designed for paddlers who would like to learn how to steer an outrigger canoe in a safe and supportive environment. The course starts with a classroom session that will cover the basics of steering including the roles and responsibilities of seat 6, communication, reading the water/tides and basics of the steering strokes. This is followed by time on the water in the steering seat under the guidance of an experienced steersperson. No previous OC-6 steering experience necessary.
Prerequisite: Basic OC-6 paddling experience
