I've seen them at practice. They look pretty good on the water. And if you scream, "Pirates!" at them, they will turn and look at you with the response "ARRRRGGGHHH." One problem though, at the time they were doing a practice race start. Basically a first year team, with a lot of talent and strength. As
huligan has said, they are a team to watch out for.Â
I hope to see them at Alcan next year.
If you see from the results (

(Fisheries and Oceans Canada said the tides were at 9am 1.7m, noon 1.1m, 4pm 2.0m.) The final few races had a good kick from the tidal current. This did not detract from the tight race results. In Blue Final A, the second to fourth place teams had a difference of 0.82 seconds. I find it nice to have strong consistant results from Dragonauts, Precision Impossible, Sweet & Sour DB, Xtreme Reach, Capitol Iron, etc. Basically, they have not let up their training during the summer.
The beer garden was a blast. Whoever's idea of bringing a trailer full of cold kegs is a great idea. This is in comparison to other festivals I have attended where organizers bought cans of beer from the liquor store, only to run out mid-afternoon.
Unconfirmed rumour was one boat did a false start; however, the other boats in the same heat did not notice and/or did not file a complaint, and the race organizers let this one slip. (No, I don't know who it is.) In past experience, I have had currents pushing boats, in which organizers do a "running start" just behind the start line. I have had jittery crews do a quick pull in anticipation of the horn, in which that boat is told to back down and given a stern warning. I even had a few goof-balls from the shore mimic a horn (I can't even remember which festival that was), but the chase boats had to get the rookie boats back to the start line. I can only guess that this did not make much of a difference, at least from what I could see in the results table.
And now for the fun stuff. I screwed up on picture taking. (Hey, it is only a one day event, and I was busy paddling.) But I did get the image of the blue final a race.... well the last 250 meters. Please note that announcer has about a 45 degree angle from the finish line, so what he is calling out is pretty well, inaccurate.
The RaceAlso, someone mentioned I can't post nudity on this site because it is considered pornographic . . . also, because my team mates took my camera and helped me edit, via delete key, any offending (errr... inappropriate) images. Golly gee, they look out for my best interest (that edit or my camera and I go for a swim in the middle of practice). Â

Dock celebrity, Paddlers of the Fifth Moon have accepted novice paddlers for their dragon boat and outrigger canoe team since their foundation. Countless alumni members now paddle for competitive teams.
More dock celebrities, Snogard has brought a good number of novice paddlers into the sport.
