I was looking at the rankings and was confused to find out that our team wasn't on the rankings. We've done very well so far this season, with a gold, a silver and a first at FCW, so I would assume we'd have the points to be ranked. I can understand that ranking mixed teams with women's teams may seem a bit stupid, as we're on 2 different levels (even though we beat 5 mixed teams at Nanaimo..woohoo! lol Very Happy) How would you all feel if there were a seperate rankings page for women's teams? I for one would be really curious to find out how we'd match up against other women's teams...makes for good competition..lol Laughing

Good idea !! So are you gonna "step up" and take this on? Will it include Breast Cancer survivor teams ?

Hey Kryssee,

Although I am moving to a mixed team next year (have paddled with a women's team for 3 years), I agree it would be nice to see how the women's teams rank against one another.  In the past I have checked out race result pages from previous races to see how the women's teams have finished to get an idea of what the competition might be like at an upcoming race.  Over the last few years I have heard comments from other "womens only" teams about the ranking idea as well as having 2 categories at races... women's and mixed.  Anyone have comments/insight they'd like to share about this??  Cheers, SS Very Happy

BTW Kryssee...Looking forward to meeting you at Victoria Dragon Boat Festival...have chatted with your tiller about paddling with your team - see you on the water Wink

Well...our team's not going to Victoria, so I won't meet ya there! But, we'll be at Kelowna! A few of our paddlers will be helping out the other Chilliwack team at Victoria, so maybe you'll meet them there! They'll be the ones keeping the beer gardens going..and going..and going..lol! Good luck in Vic! Very Happy

Oppsss, yes I guess I did mix up teams Confused... I met one of your team mates who will be paddling with the "other" Chilliwack team - I will be paddling with them as well.  They are fond of a drink are they...hmmm well being Irish and all...maybe I'll join them, lol.  Hmmm, I won't be in Kelowna this year as I will be in Ireland on my holidays...have fun in Kelowna, it is a great racing weekend!!!

I don't know if there's an easier way but I went to each individual website for results: www.fraservalleydragonboatclub.com for Harrison; www.nanaimodragonboat.com; www.gorowandpaddle.org for Richmond, the Supersprints, and VIDBC; www.adbf.com. I couldn't find results for FCRCC Regatta anywhere though.

I think that the a really good ranking system would be divided into  categories: Mixed rec/comp and Women's rec/comp. Let's include us females in the ranks! Too bad I suck at numbers..other wise I'd take it upon myself! Any number crunching volunteers out there? 8)

What if - Dragon Boat West just included women's team's in the current ranking/standings system and place an asterisks or (w) by their names.  Yes it might affects some teams placement but no bonus points should be allowed for a womens only event unless they have over 30 teams.  Just a suggestion.

Will the Taiwanese festival be included in the Standings?

As for those Water Warriors ... we're still waiting for the date and time of our race!  Razz

You mean the False Creek Women's Regatta might not make the cut?!?!
Probably one of the three or four toughest fields of the season.
