Watch City TV s Breakfast Television

April 7th.
Monday Morning.

A City TV camera came down to film our Tartan Day proclamation reading by deputy mayor and city councilor Raymond Louie - the only city councilor who has paddled dragon boats for 4 years (Sun Strokers).

Bagpiper Joe McDonald played loud and proud at Dragon Zone.

Tartan Day celebrates the Scottish heritage of Canada.

Gung Haggis Fat Choy clan chieftain Todd Wong, spoke about Vancouver s Scottish history, citing Malcolm Alexander McLean - first mayor of Vancouver in 1886, Sir John A MacDonald - first prime minister of Canada in 1867 and James Douglas - first governor of BC in 1858.

The boat backpaddled out of the Dragon Zone Dock, and Wong unfurled the flag.  The flag took to the wind, as the team paddled forward and flew proudly, as the team gathered speed.
