Anyone know of a site where the daily results are being posted? I do have the Canadian Team blog link and the official site for this event but can't find any results.

Hey all
Its day 3 and I just got in . You all should be very glad Tahiti ,Bora Bora and New Caladonia don't have dragonboat teams, lol. The tahitians are turning times like a 1.49 500 meter in a oc6 .....thats crazy fast and we have v1 solo paddlers in under 18 turning times like a 2.12 500 which is fast ,fast ,fast .
Quite a few of the Canada teams are advancing to the semi's & the finals which that in itself is a feat .When you see the level of competiton its very humbling .Looks like we may also have some v1 paddlers advancing to the finals .I can't tell you who exactly at this point as the day is not over yet . Team Canada women open 1 and masters 1 are extremely fast usually placing first in their heats and I expect them to medal .The masters 1 & 2 and senior masters 1 & 2 open crews as well are doing very well . In v1 its Shiela Kuyper ( I think her last name is ) from TO ,Helen Curry from Victoria & Hugh Fisher from Pemberton that are doing very well . I think Liam ,his son, is doing ok as well but again the Tahitians are amazing fast and they look effortless .In 1 of Liams heats I saw the top under 19 Tahiti paddler power his way through the middle ,look over to see where the rest were and finish with huge power useing a stroke rate of over 96 strokes a minute which is unbelieveable looking at how hard he was already paddling
The FCRCC dragonboat open men are strong but even they have had a difficult time w/ the power of teams from Tahiti .They just finished v12 and were teamed up w/ Canada 1 men open crew and out of the gate Bora Bora ( I believe) powered there way through the middle and had quite a lead, well over a boat or more, but FCRCC w/ the Canada 1 men did a huge push at the 250 and ran them down in the back half going through the finish almost tied w/ them ...it was a very impressive effort from our guys
Anyway this is just a little of what I remember and I'm sure I am missing alot . My masters crew is off to the finals in v12 and if everything comes together we hopefully will make the top 3 .So be proud people , all these people are paddling their butts off against some pretty amazing teams
We all agree that if Tahiti ever goes to dragonboat they will win hands down at a world championship event ...they are very very impressive in all catagories and dominating .They use a very high rate w/ a very short stroke ,considerably different then what we are used too and their boats fly

on another note ......... some of you are going to notice some new different looking oc1 on the creek .
Some of us bought the racing v1's used at the worlds and will be useing them in the creek .They are made by Tiger and have bold graphics and colours so they stand out from most oc1's out there .They are all rudderless and are amazing to paddle ....Very easy to keep straight and they fly .They are kockpit ( i know its spelled wrong but it blanks this word out ) style and weight hardly anything ,well under 20 lbs ,they do not have anywhere to brace with your feet .Compared to the rudderless c-lion .......actually there is no comparision . I jumped in one not being the greatest rudderless paddler and I thought I was in for alot of work and paddling in circles but I was wrong and after about a 1/2 hour I was able to sprint down the 500 without too much problem keeping it straight so it says alot for this v1

I hope that was a mis-spell?
good job guys! Graham's times look really good. Is there an online photo album or anything to look at photos of the event?

Team Canada crews and solo paddlers took home a record 15 medals; one gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze - the best showing ever by Canada at a World Outrigger Sprint Championship.

Something from the Easties forum. It's a video of the 2008 oc1 world record holder at the Sacramento sprints. There's slow motion video replay of the guy. As previous posters here mentioned, the Tahitians are very fast.
