Another year, a few dollars raised for BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
As with others in the Metro Vancouver dragon boating community, members of Team Storm volunteered in various capacities this year.  I seemed to go well both dry land and on the water.

Only two issues I heard of. One was an unfortunate incident of a steersperson falling in to the water during the obstacle course. The other was a moored sailboat that happened to drift into lane 3 during a race.

All in all, I had fun, in particular, the obstacle race.

Thanks so much for this! Looks like fun! Did you have junior teams starting at this event? I'm looking for attractive races for our junior team in 2010...

I think we had two juniors, one who steered for an corporate team, and another who drummed for another corporate team.  Both coached these teams as they have never dragon boated before. They seemed to handled themselves well with the grown-ups.

Some established teams did participate, but there were a lot of people from the paddling community who volunteered. To give you an idea, 14 of 24 crews required both drummer and steersperson at this event.  A number of teams were short the minimum paddlers and had to recruit from other volunteers and rival teams.

It is a fun event, which a lot of the paddlers are experiencing dragon boating for the first time.

I missed that.

Thanks

Over 90,000 I believe.
All I know my h2o geeks had a blast (13 of them never even been a dragon boat before July)

Thank you, Paddling Geek.

I heard back from P4K today and was told:

The total announced on-site was $90,062... but some additional donations have come in post-event to put our total at $95,681!

Good work everyone!
