Quote from: Vancouver Sun
VANCOUVER - A Grey whale has been spotted in False Creek, swimming just off the Granville Island public market since about noon Wednesday.
Jeremy Patterson, the operations manager for Granville Island Ferries, said he first spotted the large whale at about 11:45 a.m. while shuttling passengers between Granville Island and downtown Vancouver.
He said the Coast Guard, police, and members of the Vancouver Aquarium are on the scene assessing the situation. He said he's directed his ferry drivers to stay as far away from the whale as possible.
"I think it's a 400 metre restriction but since this is False Creek it's hard to [keep that distance]," Patterson said.

I'll be on the water today, maybe i'll catch a glimpse of it.
If i'm lucky, it's gonna race and beat me in a 500m LOL

It came and went.
When I got there by 2:45 pm or so, it was already back in the open water and dodging drunken powerboaters.

Banana Fusion was about 1-2 boatlengths away from the whale! We saw it over 3 times from 7pm-9:30pm... he seemed to like being around Science World. Who knows, maybe he found lots of food under there. Either that or he's drugged by the noxious wastes...

D*mn. That whale was hanging out with us during practice last night and we didn't even think to recruit it. Wonder if it paddles left or right, cuz we're quite right heavy.

A few of my teammates are already calling it Gilbert. No idea who started it, though.
